STYLE GUIDELINE FOR WEBSITES

Web style guidelines, hearing simply, what actually it stands for? Yes, it’s just a document that gives an idea about how to tell your website project, how to expose your website to outside world which makes your site more interactive and readable to others.

Relevance

This web style guideline should keep consistent information about button, icons, navigation, fonts to be used in a website, website design compatibility etc.

BUTTON STYLE
At time of button designing, most designers don’t give as much importance about where each button should place in appropriate place in current page, their spacing, hovers etc. It may sometimes feel more congested visually. But if keep a clear document about its appropriate place, hovers it will be more helpful for designing.

ICONS
A picture can explain more than words can say. Similarly, if give more importance to this icons by giving apt sizes and light colors to icons used , spacing etc. all these improve readability of what you are mentioning in a page of your website.

NAVIGATION
Navigability is an essential one in each websites. After designing and delivery of website, sometimes user may have some additional requirements to include a newpage/ pages from existing pages. So at time of designing, as by inner view, if give an additional space for this extra fitting, it will be more advantageous, and time consuming one.

FONTS
Include information in guidelines about expected font size, colour, line spacing etc. Also the fonts used should be a readable one.

WEBSITE DESIGN COMPATIBILITY
Website design compatibility prefers how website accessible in portable devices likes mobile phones, how it works well in other browses than Internet Explorer, and also how it compatible to most of Operating Systems.

All the above mentioned consistent information if kept as a document it will be easier for designers as well as to end users for future reference.
